Nature of Supervision:
As a professional Clinical Supervisor in the field of counselling, I value my Supervisee’s use of connection through self-awareness, and their choice or use of language or silence.
My goal in working as a Supervisor is to enhance the capacity of the Supervisee, while helping to support continual change and growth.
I prefer the use of live observation and dropping into the energy of my supervisee’s therapy sessions, though also allow for and enjoy video tape reviews, as per the comfort of the supervisee and their clients.
In supervision work, a large portion of my role is to acknowledge any ethical inconsistencies or concerns in one’s practice that relate to the safety of clients or the Supervisee themselves.
It is my duty to communicate concerns, give feedback & to help the Supervisee stay in alignment with their values while staying up-to-date with the advances and standards in the ethics of counselling.
It is expected that cases will be shared between Supervisee & supervisor in sessions and that any concerns or concerning questions be brought to supervision sessions.
Evaluation procedures will be outlined by students’ University or else discussed and decided upon as needed.
Any concerns that require greater attention may include reporting to regulating body, association or school.
I prefer a direct yet warm environment where both parties feel included, seen and kept up to date on any issues, stuck spots or areas of distress or struggle.
