About My Professional Path  

​

When I was young I had an internal focus, and a keen sense of desire to dig deeper, know more and get to the parts of myself that were in suffering. I wrote poetry, questioned the ways things were presented to me, and felt connected to Nature more than the human world.

My own personal journey brought me through many teachings where it was a necessity for my focus to be upon human survival, self-empowerment, personal boundaries, patterns of social unrest/ inequality & spirituality through various lenses.

Therefore, my style of working is multi-disciplinary. I don't just have the eyes of psychology and counselling. I have trained in the biological, anatomical, medicinal and spiritual perspectives which gives my vision of each client breadth. My background lends skill in observation and reflection of the layers that intersect in a holistic human body and human life.  When I help support someone through their counselling and healing times, I naturally integrate all the healing wisdom, and modalities that I can incorporate.

I started my professional training as a therapist at the age of 18. I completed a 3 year Advanced Level Behavioural Science program in 2004. Some of many modailities are listed below. I am currently a professional member of ACCT (#2650) as a Registered Master Therapeutic Counsellor (MTC) as well as a Registered Clinical Supervisor.  I have lived experience in the areas I specialize in.

 

My most recent workplace role was as the Clinical Manager of the Counselling Team at Desert Sun Counselling and Resource Center in Oliver & Osoyoos, British Columbia. I worked here for almost 10 years. 

I am continuously updating my skills and seeking all that life has to teach me.

- 1 Year Counselling Mentorship with Nikki Manzie -Professor/Yogi/Plant Spirit Medicine Educator

- 76 hr certification in Advanced Clinical Counselling Supervision

- 6 months Immersion PATH program at Kripalu Yoga & Health Centre

- 100 hours+ of Non-Violent/ Compassionate Communication Training

- Currently studying and training to be a Hakomi Practitioner. 

- 1 Year Transpersonal Psychology with Plant Medicines

- Certification in Applied Psychology and Counselling

- Certification in Traditional Thai Yoga Massage

- Completed Basic Level of Watsu Water Therapy

- Certification in Ayurvedic Marmatherapy

Over time I've only become more involved with an inter-weaving of teachings.  With the goal of sharing ways of life that increase compassion for self and others, I've become someone who greatly values the concept of creating a compassionate and aware culture.

​

 I honor the challenges I have had in my own life.  I feel that my struggles have brought my counselling into a depth of authenticity & grounded my ability to be with others' pains & fears.

​

I create programs incorporating the practice of Compassionate Communication, the cultivation of self-awareness, one's relationship to their own sense of spirituality, body-posture, breath-work & the integration or digestion of traumatic memories and/or difficult emotional experiences. I also teach educative workshops on Conscious Intimacy at summer festivals such as What If Regional Burning Man event in Merritt, BC, as well as the RISE Wellness Festival in the Okanagan Valley, BC.

 I enjoy sharing in expressive arts such as free flow forms of dance, wool felting, clothing design, clay sculpting, personal ritual & spending time in nature with my beloved dog Jeb R.W.
