Vipassana Insight Meditation:

Insight Meditation Groups meet to contemplate, sit and be present with what is arising within the body, heart and mind.  This is to focus time and awareness upon the natural flow of life, change and learning the skill of allowing life to be what it is.

In the traditions of S.N Goenka, Chogyam Trungpa, Mahasi Sayadaw and Venerable others... we listen, observe and become present with what is.

This is similar to our Western style sliding scale, yet has deeper roots as a spiritual practice all its own. In the Buddhist tradition, the teachings are given freely because they are considered priceless; in the Buddhist tradition we also practice dana, or generosity, by making monetary offerings for the teachings. Dana is not payment for goods or services rendered; it is given from the heart. Your generosity is a gift that supports not just the teachers, but also the Sangha, the larger Dharma community, and your own practice. - See more at: http://dharmawisdom.org/teachings/articles/meaning-pali-word-dana#sthash.lRspVH8U.dpuf
